Beachbody does this sneaky thing where every friggin year, they release a new program RIGHT at the beginning of December so we can all scramble to get it for Christmas. I love it.
Sometimes when a new program comes out, I think…eh, you don’t need yet ANOTHER set of DVDs. Not Hammer & Chisel. I love Autumn Calabrese, 21 Day Fix trainer. I love Sagi Kalev, Body Beast trainer, EVEN MORE. This one had my name written all over it.
Here’s the rundown on what it’s all about:
The Master’s Hammer and Chisel is built on the three phases of SSP Training— Stabilization, Strength, and Power. The program incorporates all three methods to help you chip away fat and carve every muscle for a strong, visually stunning body in 60 days. (I mean, who doesn’t want that?!)
The program includes:
• 12 brand-new, 30- to 40-minute workouts that combine Sagi and Autumn’s proven techniques for 60 days of hardcore resistance training.
• The easy-to-follow and completely customizable nutrition plan, along with 7 portion-control containers that show you how to portion out the right amount of food to help you reach your unique fitness goals. (Have you done 21 Day Fix or Insanity Max 30? Super similar plan…very easy to follow!)
• Flexible nutrition that allows you to lean out, sculpt and maintain, or build muscle.
• Includes options to adapt certain exercises if you have limited access to equipment.
• Includes a modifier who demonstrates some moves at a lower intensity.
Sound like something that you’re into? Check out the package here, or shoot me a message to chat about it! I’m currently part of an online challenge group and we are all doing the program together. You can still join us!
Hammer Workouts Review:
So, although I officially started the program on January 4, 2016, I have been doing the Hammer 30 Day Calendar (comes with the program) to build some muscle all through December. I must admit…I love these workouts. Each day I did a new workout, I thought “Ok, THIS one is my favorite!” only to be replaced by the next days. Sagi’s workouts are pretty quick, include some brand new moves which is always nice, and you even see the Beast do a sumo squat jump…believe that. Here’s my thoughts on the Hammer workouts so far.
HAMMER PLYOMETRICS: This jump training workout will use your entire body to create force, speed, and power.
Not what you would typically think of when you think Plyo, but seriously heart pounding. I love the Crazy Horse and DEFINITELY keep your eyes peeled for Sagi’s sumo jump squat.
ISO SPEED HAMMER: A tempo training workout that uses speed and isometric holds to create strength and grow muscle.
Literally a 20 minute workout, amazing. Isometric training requires a bit of brain power, I like it. You can actually check this one out on Beachbody On Demand for FREE before you buy!
TOTAL BODY HAMMER: A hypertrophy workout focused on pyramid-style sets to maximize strength and muscle growth.
Pyramid workouts are always tricky for me, I like this style. Lots of variety in this video!
MAX HAMMER STRENGTH: Start with a pre-fatigued muscle, finish with a maximum lift. Increase strength, power, and muscular development.
A solid all around workout. The “pre-fatigued” muscle, as they are calling it, will GET YOU.
HAMMER POWER: This intense powerlifting-inspired workout will increase speed, reactive strength, and power.
After doing ALL of the Hammer workouts…this one remains my favorite. If you’re used to lifting heavy, this one starts out a little bit like a snooze fest, but give it a minute. Sagi knows what’s up and he’s getting you ready for the last 10 minutes of WORK. My basement gym sounds like a nut house with all the grunting and crashing that occurs by the end.
HAMMER CONDITIONING: A workout based on compound movements that will improve stability, coordination, and strength.
Another good all around, not necessarily what you would expect from Sagi, but so good!
As always, as I continue through the program, I’ll post updated on my Facebook page and when it’s all said and done, I’ll post a review and a before and after here on the blog! Sign up for updates so you don’t miss it!
