Personal Development {DO IT!}


Fitness friends! Listen up, literally…

I am not always highly motivated, but I am super dedicated to my workouts.  I get them done, no matter what, every day, no excuses.  Just yesterday, I was up at 4am for work, finally got home from work & running errands at 7:30pm, downed TWO chocolate chip cookies and some sushi, felt like a moron for doing that, sat on the couch and told my woes to the dog, then at 8:30pm I finally said to myself “You didn’t blow it, you can still get the workout in.”  And I did.  And it felt awesome.

So, where do we turn for motivation?  Do you scroll through Instagram or Tumblr for quotes that kick you into gear?  Maybe pin a few workouts to a board in Pinterest?  Follow some motivational folks on Facebook?  All perfectly awesome.  I love the internet for the amount of support & information that is available to those who need it. Sure, there is a ton of junk too, but let’s see the good.

…On to the VERY good.  I follow Chalene Johnson on Facebook and Instagram.  She’s a fitness professional and pretty epic in the Beachbody community.  You may recognize her from Turbo Fire, PiYo or my favorite, ChaLean Extreme. She is the type of person you either love or can’t stand; she’s full of energy and super positive.  I don’t know why you wouldn’t love that, but I definitely do.  I clicked a link on her Facebook recently to learn about the 8 Hour Ab Diet, and it took me to a podcast link.  At first, I was bummed because who has time to listen to a podcast?  I just wanted a quick read.  Then I realized, I have PLENTY of time during my commute to listen to a podcast.  And I’m so happy I clicked that link.


I listened to that 8 Hour Ab Diet podcast, and then about four more on topics from how to rock your Instagram profile to how to focus your life on a few things that really matter rather than everything that comes your way. They are about 30 minutes long and they got me going better than anything I’ve come across lately.  Chalene has really interesting guests that are actual EXPERTS in their field.  She has an easy conversational way of interviewing that made me feel like I was in the same room as them.  If it sounds like I’m gushing, I am.  I dare you to listen to one and not come away with some ideas of how you can improve your own life.  How amazing is that?

Whether you are looking for motivation to get moving, to eat healthier, to build your career, to be a better leader, or just to bring some positivity and zest to your life, I highly recommend checking out this podcast.  Don’t worry, even though Chalene is a powerhouse in the Beachbody community, the podcasts do not focus on products or the company at all.  They are well rounded and focused on building your best life & who can’t use that?

  1. Love this!! I’m in love with TED Talks, which are so cliché, but I adore them anyways. Always learning – always growing.
